Registration Open for Builders in Ministry Week 2014

The 8th Annual Builders in Ministry Conference will explore “Building a ‘Culture of the Call’ in your Church and College” and will be held at Southwestern College, February 20 -21, 2014. Funding for this conference has come from the Council of Independent Colleges and the Institute for Discipleship. We hope for a wonderful exchange between local church and college staff on this most important topic regarding how we cultivate and encourage vocational calls into ministry. Southwestern highlighted in the Interpreter

Southwestern College students and alumni were featured in March/April 2013 issue of the Interpreter, a magazine produced by United Methodist Communications. In “A Higher Calling for Higher Education,” freshman Jordan Ramines, Sabetha, Kan., is highlighted at the sound board of a worship outreach concert. “I found the fact that it was a United Methodist college particularly enticing because I go to a Methodist church in my hometown,” Jordan was quoted. New faculty join Philosophy & Religion department

Dr. Jacob L. Goodson received his Ph.D. from the University of Virginia in 2010.  He specializes in American philosophy, modern philosophy, and the philosophy of religion.  He writes on topics such as the ethics of baseball, the moral treatment of animals, and the philosophy of prayer and prophecy.  Goodson has an essay coming out this year titled "The Ethics of Counter-Insurgency in The Wire," which analyzes the characters of the popular HBO television series.  He enjoys discussing philosophical and theological issues with students, as well as watching the Chicago Cubs play baseball every…continue reading →

Adam Hamilton and Sarah Wilke to Lead Builders in Ministry Week 2011

Adam Hamilton is the founding pastor of Church of the Resurrection which has grown from four people in 1990 to over 12,000 adult members and an average weekly worship attendance of over 7,500. Sarah Wilke is the publisher of the Upper Room, a daily devotional guide read by almost 3 million people in more than 100 countries in 76 editions and 40 languages.
