Southwestern highlighted in the Interpreter

Southwestern College students and alumni were featured in March/April 2013 issue of the Interpreter, a magazine produced by United Methodist Communications. In “A Higher Calling for Higher Education,” freshman Jordan Ramines, Sabetha, Kan., is highlighted at the sound board of a worship outreach concert. “I found the fact that it was a United Methodist college particularly enticing because I go to a Methodist church in my hometown,” Jordan was quoted. Worship Outreach Tours Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia

Martin Rude, director of worship outreach, led a group of 10 Southwestern College students on a concert tour to southeast Asia May 7 - 24. Countries on the tour were Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia, and 11 concerts were presented. The tour was in combination with their newest CD “No Secrets,” which contains 10 new songs written and produced by the Worship Outreach students. New faculty join Philosophy & Religion department

Dr. Jacob L. Goodson received his Ph.D. from the University of Virginia in 2010.  He specializes in American philosophy, modern philosophy, and the philosophy of religion.  He writes on topics such as the ethics of baseball, the moral treatment of animals, and the philosophy of prayer and prophecy.  Goodson has an essay coming out this year titled "The Ethics of Counter-Insurgency in The Wire," which analyzes the characters of the popular HBO television series.  He enjoys discussing philosophical and theological issues with students, as well as watching the Chicago Cubs play baseball every…continue reading →

Discipleship Southwestern Students Spend Spring Break on Mission Trip in Atlanta
