Winfield, Kansas, May 7, 2024 – Richard E. Clark has joined the Southwestern College faculty as a Visiting Scholar of the Institute for Discipleship (IFD). Each academic year the Institute for Discipleship provides a $20,000 fellowship and housing to a new or near-completion Ph.D. candidate in religion. July 22, 2021 – Abigail Woolley Cutter has joined the Southwestern College faculty as a Visiting Scholar of the Institute for Discipleship. Cutter, who was awarded her Ph.D. in religious studies from Southern Methodist University in May, will spend the next two years at the Winfield, Kan., college. Each academic year, the Institute for Discipleship provides a $20,000 fellowship and housing to a new or near-completion PhD candidate in religion. Rev. Wendy Mohler-Seib has been selected as the Southwestern College visiting scholar for the 2019-2020 academic year. The Richard and Julia Wilke Institute for Discipleship at Southwestern College’s visiting scholar program began in 2006, and supports a person nearing the completion of their Ph.D. work in the field of religion. Mohler-Seib is the 10th visiting scholar in the program. Mohler-Seib is currently pursuing her doctoral work in practical theology through Nazarene Theological College at the University of Manchester in Manchester, England. For seven days at the end of July, 36 rising high school juniors and seniors from around Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and as far away as Mexico attended the Summit Youth Academy on the campus of Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas.
