Stephen Rankin, a leader in Southwestern College's academic and religious life since 1995, has accepted a position as chaplain at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Rankin has been SC's campus minister, as well as chairing the philosophy and religious studies department. He also has been instrumental in the founding and development of the Discipleship Southwestern program. A new worship community project has resulted in a CD hot off the presses. Produced under the supervision of Martin Rude, the CD features 10 songs written by SC worship team members, many of whom are now working in their own ministries. Travis Hastings, Sarah (Melcher) Miller, J.C. Ledford, Daniel Miller, Stephen Butler, Andrew Singh, and Josh Melcher all contributed composing talent, and the songs were produced and arranged by Stephen Butler, Carter Green, and Martin Rude. The third annual BIM week is scheduled for February 17-19, 2009. The event is a 3-day conference for Moundbuilder alumni, current students, and friends of Southwestern who are involved in ministry. The guest speaker for the week is Tony Jones, a noted author and minister to youth and young adults, who is active in the Emergent church movement.
